Varsity Chorale (Advanced SATB):
Consisting of 64 student-musicians, Varsity Chorale is the flagship chorale ensemble at Seymour High School. As a multifaceted ensemble, they perform all types of genres, including classical, spirituals, contemporary, and world music. In addition to the traditional choral music they sing, they also act as the cast for the musical production each year. Their last several musicals have been: Mamma Mia! in 2019 (Fall), The Addams Family in 2019 (Spring), Into the Woods in 2018, Bye Bye Birdie in 2017, Working in 2016, and Legally Blonde in 2015.
Varsity often attends Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) events where they regularly receive gold awards in performance and sight-singing. These events include ISSMA's State Qualifiers competition where they've received great feedback and scores. They have also sung in clinics with Scott Buchanan (Indiana State University), Andrew Crow (Ball State University), Kimberly Dunn Adams (Western Michigan University), Michael Boswell (Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College), Barney Smith (VOCES8), Sydney Guillaume, Shawn Kirchner, and other choral mentors. Chorale has performed in collaborative concerts with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Bloomington Chamber Singers, and VOCES8. Our seniors wear a purple rose at every choral performance. |
